Scope

Bone & Joint Research (BJR) is owned and published by The British Editorial Society of Bone & Joint Surgery, a registered charity (No. 209299). The Society was established with the object of: 'The advancement and improvement of education in orthopaedic surgery and allied branches of surgery and the diffusion of knowledge of new and improved methods of teaching and practising orthopaedic surgery in all its branches'. As part of our charitable remit, The British Editorial Society of Bone & Joint Surgery supports several orthopaedic fellowships with financial donations. These include the ABC fellowship, the Mark Paterson Travelling Fellowship (an initiative with EFORT), and the Indian Orthopaedic Society fellowship in conjunction with the British Orthopaedic Trainee Association. BJR launched in October 2011 and accepts papers across the whole spectrum of the musculoskeletal sciences, including but not limited to: Basic science • bioengineering • regenerative medicine • stem cells • inflammation • immunology • infection • cancer genetics • genomics • metabolomics • proteomics • tissue research • ligaments • veterinary orthopaedics • clinical and translational laboratory studies that conform to CONSORT and STROBE guidelines • studies from the device and pharmaceutical industries. BJR is a gold open access journal which means that all articles published will be available online, to anyone, anywhere in the world, completely free of charge. BJR received its fourth Impact Factor in June 2018, achieving a 2017 Impact Factor of 2.362. Join the conversation about this journal
Quartiles

The set of journals have been ranked according to their SJR and divided into four equal groups, four quartiles. Q1 (green) comprises the quarter of the journals with the highest values, Q2 (yellow) the second highest values, Q3 (orange) the third highest values and Q4 (red) the lowest values.

The SJR is a size-independent prestige indicator that ranks journals by their 'average prestige per article'. It is based on the idea that 'all citations are not created equal'. SJR is a measure of scientific influence of journals that accounts for both the number of citations received by a journal and the importance or prestige of the journals where such citations come from It measures the scientific influence of the average article in a journal, it expresses how central to the global scientific discussion an average article of the journal is.

Citations per document

This indicator counts the number of citations received by documents from a journal and divides them by the total number of documents published in that journal. The chart shows the evolution of the average number of times documents published in a journal in the past two, three and four years have been cited in the current year. The two years line is equivalent to journal impact factor ™ (Thomson Reuters) metric.
