Scope

The Foundations and Applications of Self-* Systems Workshops Program was a friendly and informal series of focused workshops held in Augsburg, Germany, in September 2016. The program was held alongside the technical conferences, the International Conference on Self-adaptive and Self-organizing Systems (SASO), and the International Conference on Cloud and Autonomic Computing (ICCAC) 2016, which together form FAS *. These proceedings contain the papers presented at the FAS* Workshops Program, as well as papers presented at the FAS* Doctoral Symposium and the SASO Demo and Poster sessions. [...] All papers submitted to the workshops were subject to peer review, in order to ensure high quality. In addition, some workshops solicited talks and abstracts on important existing work, and new directions and challenges. Together, the FAS* workshops enriched the federated FAS* conference, by providing meeting opportunities for presenting novel ideas in a less formal and more focused way than in the conferences themselves. To achieve this, and to ensure the discussion and participation of workshop attendees, many workshops moved away from the typical “mini-conference” format of a workshop, and included discussion sessions, panels, and invited speakers.
