Scope

Historia is dedicated to research on the entire period of Greco-Roman antiquity, i.e. Archaic and Classical Greece, the Hellenistic period, the Roman Republic, the Roman Empire and Late Antiquity. It includes not only political, economic and social history but also archeological, numismatic, epigraphic and historiographic topics as well as the history of religion and law and research on the history of classical and ancient studies. Historia was founded after the Second World War by the German ancient historian Karl Friedrich Stroheker and the Swiss ancient historian Gerold Walser, not least of all to revive international scientific dialog. It publishes original articles (but not reviews) in English, German, French and Italian. For decades it has been one of the most highly respected and frequently cited ancient history research journals worldwide. Historia is a refereed journal. Submitted articles are subjected to an anonymized double review process that decides which articles are accepted for publication. Join the conversation about this journal
